7zX 1.6.6
About 7zX
Compression ratio results are very dependent upon the data used for the tests. Usually 7zX compresses to 7z format 30-70% better than to zip format, and 2-10% better than most of other zip compatible programs.
- 7zX support archives in the proprietary s7z format, which preserves Macintosh resource forks, Spotlight metadata, and other informations which are normally not retained with the regular 7z format;
- it also supports archives encoded using the AppleDouble standard;
- it can create self-extracting archives, which will expand on any computer with Mac OS X 10.3 or newer even if the 7zX software isn’t installed on the host machine;
- it can compress archives directly from the Finder contextual menu (requires Mac OS X 10.4).
- Many more features.
What’s New in this Version
- 7zX now behaves like Apple’s BOMArchiveHelper when expanding archives; existing files shouldn’t be overwritten anymore.
- The creation of archives has been improved; we fixed a bug which would prevent 7zX from creating any kind of segmented archives.
- Self-Extracting archives also include the improvements we studied for the main 7zX application.
System Requirements
- Mac OS X 10.4 or later
