iPhoto, part of the iLife ’08 suite of digital authoring applications, gives students and teachers an easy-to-use tool to import, organize, edit, and share digital photos. iPhoto provides a compelling way to excite and motivate students and deepen their understanding in all subject areas.

With iPhoto, students can produce projects such as a storybook in a foreign language, a website about local historical sites, or a slideshow that documents a science project. Images in iPhoto are easily accessible across all iLife applications, making it simple for students to include them in projects, such as an iMovie documentary or a podcast created in GarageBand.

iPhoto is simple to learn making it an effective tool for the classroom. Importing photos into iPhoto illustrates this simplicity: After connecting a digital camera to a Mac, iPhoto automatically opens, allowing students to download photos with the click of a button.

Once images are imported, organizing them in an iPhoto library is a breeze. iPhoto automatically organizes photos into Events, making it easier than ever to keep track of images. Photos can also be arranged into albums either by hand or using Smart Albums that create albums automatically.

Students don’t need photography expertise to use the editing tools in iPhoto. They can eliminate red-eye with one click, crop unwanted elements from their photos with one drag, adjust brightness and colors with a powerful toolbox, and apply a number of special effects filters to their images with ease. And if they don’t like their changes, they can easily go back to the original photo.
