Music
Bring it, buy it, or both. Whether you’re importing songs from your CD collection or buying them from the iTunes Store, you can enjoy all your digital music on iTunes. The music you love (and music you have yet to discover) is just a click away.
Import your CDs.
You’ve spent time and money building that CD collection. Give it the respect it deserves by importing it to iTunes. And the great thing is you don’t have to bother with entering information for your CDs. iTunes does it for you. iTunes automatically finds song, artist, and album names — complete with cover art and even the year of production.
Purchase music.
Shop for music at home with the iTunes Store or on the go with the iTunes Wi-Fi Music Store for iPod touch and iPhone. The music you purchase is yours to keep. All for just 99¢ each — $9.99 per album in most cases. With the Complete My Album feature, buy one or more singles from the iTunes Store and get credit for them when you buy the whole album.1
Shop iTunes Store exclusives.
Visit the More in Music section of the iTunes Store and browse content exclusive to iTunes. Get up close and personal with iTunes Originals — albums that include live-session recordings and interviews from your favorite artists. Or explore iTunes Essentials’ handpicked mixes for every mood.
Browse by album art.
If a picture’s worth a thousand words, think of what all the cover art in your collection might say. Use Cover Flow to flip through your digital music the way you flip through CDs. Or create groups of albums by artists, genres, or composers with the new Grid View. Skim across a group to see the albums inside.
Organize, find, play.
Go digital and do more with your music. Shuffle songs or albums. Drag and drop songs into a playlist, then group playlists in folders. Search even the largest library in a fraction of a second. Play anything with a click.
Hear songs that go great together.
Let Genius reacquaint you with music you already own. Anytime you’re playing a song and want to hear more like it, just click the Genius button. iTunes will generate a Genius playlist with songs from your library that go great together.
Get music recommendations.
Imagine a record store stocked exclusively with music you love. The Genius sidebar is a lot like that. Just select a song, and the Genius sidebar displays songs and albums by that artist, as well as insightful recommendations from across the iTunes Store. What’s more, the Genius sidebar never recommends a track it knows is in your library. And you can preview or buy any song in the sidebar with a click.
Get iTunes everywhere.
Enjoy your iTunes library on the go or sprawled out on the couch. Connect an iPod or iPhone to your computer and sync everything from music to podcasts, movies to audiobooks, contacts to applications. Or let your TV take center stage in your home theater by playing your iTunes library via your Apple TV.
Burn CDs.
If you don’t have an iPod or iPhone, that’s OK. iTunes makes it easy to burn custom audio CDs to play in your car or home stereo.
Play music wirelessly.
Stream music wirelessly to other rooms in your home with AirTunes — built into the AirPort Express Base Station and Apple TV. And control your music wirelessly from anywhere in the house with Remote, a free application for iPod touch and iPhone.2
Share music.
Good music is worth sharing, and iTunes gets that. Play music from other computers on your home network and share your own playlists when you enable iTunes Sharing. Or create an iMix on the iTunes Store and use “Publish to the Web” to display it on your blog, social networking profile, or website. You can also publish a widget that displays your latest purchases, reviews, and more.
