System requirements

To install or upgrade to Apple Remote Desktop 3 on either admin or client computers, you must have Mac OS X v10.3.9 or later, or Mac OS X Server v10.3.9 or later running on those computers. Some features of Apple Remote Desktop require Mac OS X v10.4.

Transfer existing computer lists

If you've been using Apple Remote Desktop 2.2 to administer clients, and you want to use a different computer as the admin, make sure to transfer your computer lists from the old admin computer to the new one before upgrading to Apple Remote Desktop 3. If you’re using the same admin computer, your old computer lists will be migrated to Apple Remote Desktop 3 automatically when you upgrade.
