Wake target clients with Apple Remote Desktop to complete a task

Sometimes a task fails because one of the target clients doesn't respond. One trick is to use Apple Remote Desktop's Wake command from the Manage menu. While tasks will attempt to wake all the target clients, they may be unable to wake a client. A Wake command sent from the admin computer to the client may be successful, and allow you to complete the task. The Wake command will work with clients on the same subnet as the admin, but will not work over a wireless network.

Repair clients’ file permissions from your admin computer

You can perform many maintenance tasks on your clients without getting up from your admin station. For instance, if you find out that one of your clients is running into some permissions errors, simply send a UNIX command to that client telling it to run diskutil, and to set the user permissions for the command as root. You can watch the command being run, and see its results in your Remote Desktop task window.
