The Spitzer Space Telescope produces extremely high resolution data (Fig 3)

Data from the Midcourse Space Experiment, a satellite launched in 1996 (left), compared to data from the Spitzer Space Telescope's IRAC instrument (right). This image corresponds to a tiny portion of the overall data of the galactic center shown in figures 1 and 2. It's about 5.25 arcminutes on a side, or about 1/500th of the total area covered. It clearly illustrates the structure visible with a ten-fold improvement in spatial resolution.
