When you get your iTunes-enabled mobile phone, youll want to start listening to music right away. Transferring songs to your phone starts with your computer and iTunes. If you dont have iTunes installed on your computer, use the CD that came with your phone to install it. Then, you can buy songs from the iTunes Music Store, or import CDs to your iTunes music library.
Once you have songs in your iTunes library, connect your phone to your computer, using the cable that came with your phone. If this is your first time connecting your phone, you will go through a Mobile Phone Setup Assistant and can decide whether you want it to be automatically filled with music ("Autofill"), or whether youd like to manually drag and drop songs or playlists to your phone.
Songs on the iTunes Music Store are encoded at 128 kbps. If you have songs that are encoded at a higher bit rate, youll need to set your preferences to convert songs to 128 kbps in order to copy them to your phone. From iTunes Preferences, click the Phone tab, and then make sure "Convert higher bitrate songs to 128 kbps AAC" is selected.
In addition to copying songs to your phone, you can also use your phone like a USB drive to save files. Just go to iTunes Preferences, click the Phone tab, and then just slide the disk use slider towards "More Data," depending on how much disk space you want to use for your files.
